They seem as much at home by the water as in sand Louis
Louis: They visit the water, just to drink, Chris. All morning there is ongoing traffic of them coming and going. I found it impressive to realise how many of the sandgrouse are in the area.
Well camouflaged Louis
Louis: Even better when they are out in the veld, Bill.

And are those some species of Sparrow bottom left, Louis?
Louis: They are house sparrows, yes, Lisl.
Great capture of these beautiful birds Louis!
Louis: Thank you Richard
What a very pretty bird.
Louis: And so they are, thank you Mary
A splash of water attracts me, too, Louis. smile
Louis: Say you, after crossing a big one, Ginnie smile
Unusual plumage, no doubt well camouflaged in the field
Louis: You are right about that, Martin.
What fine looking birds, I like their colour pattern very much.
Louis: They are also very accomplished flyers, Brian.
They are attractive aren't they. I haven't seen them before
Louis: I agree and you will most likely only see them, when you visitthe Kalahari region of Southern Africa.
I suppose water is to be treasured in this country Louis, unlike my homeland where it is often depised,
Louis: You suppose correctly, gutteridge. Water is a scarce commodity in Namibia. This splash exists at the foot of an ancient dune and may be fed by an underground river.
They look like substantial meaty birds! And are the little ones some kind of finch?
Louis: They are game birds, Tom. The little ones are house sparrows.
i like your details and framing Louis...
the Burchell's sandgrouse has a strange spotted plumage....petersmile
Louis: Thank you peter. They are exceptionally well camouflaged in their world of sand, grass and shrubs.
They're such a pretty bird with great colour and spots.
