photoblog image Salticid

Salticid is another name for a jumping spider. I scoured the internet for the exact name of this one, found a picture of a similar one. Unfortunately it was not identified any further than the family name of Salticid.

This one is about half a centimeter.

It is a lovely critter, Louis.

Is it sunning itself on the top of a rusty iron post?
Louis: Thank you Ray. The spider is somewhere between 1 and 2 cm long, is my guess. The post is not your normal fencing post, it is thin bar keeping electrified wire in place.
this is a wonderful presentation of this spider that i would rather not get to clodse to Louis....petersmile
Louis: Very small - about 5mm. And they can do you nothing, except sit on you, peter
Lovely presentation of this beautiful fella Louis!
Louis: Thank you Richard - quite a little spider, was my thoughts as well.
Wonderful aren't they! Jumping spiders are a favorite of mine.... this one's a beaute!
Louis: Small and harmless, but very interesting, I agree Elizabeth

I hope it didn't jump your way, Louis. You have caught its eyes so well
Louis: Thank you Lisl. Those eyes are like the head lights of some american family sedan from the 1950's.

Very good Louis, you can see its eyes wide open
Louis: Thanks Chris. Poor thing can't close them. Doomed to see everything.
As long as it stays put while I'm looking at it, Louis, I'm fine!!! smile
Louis: Meek and mild little critter, Ginnie

Amazing pictures and I am so glad that the little thing did not jump before you were able to take these fabulous pictures.
Love the rusty pole too.
Louis: Thank you Astrid. Quite a lively fella or girl.
The name reminds me of Salty Stan, if you could ever remember that Louis.
Louis: Some cartoon horse - heck, old memory ...
Those eyes are amazing Louis

Louis: Alleen voor kleine inzekten, Philine.
You got his eyes very well, beady little things that they are.
Louis: When I saw them, I felt I just had to take a picture or two, Mary
Two very good images Louis but I don't think I would want it to jump on to me.
Louis: Thank you Brian. No harm can be done.
Those eyes are taking everything in
Louis: I am sure they do, Martin
It's really hard to see the spider!
Louis: For me, it wasn't, because it moved smile
