Elephant dam

Just outside the place where we stayed in the Kruger Park, is this reinforced concrete dam, filled with borehole water. With the little rainfall in this area, the dam becomes an oasis for the animals.  There is a viewing platform in the camp, from where one can view proceedings at this watering point. Many elephant herds visit the place around the clock. I loved to while the last hours of the waning day away on that platform.

I will be away next week, until the 18th of December and will resume posting shortly after that.

Not many days left for Christmas shopping. It is all such a mad rush anyway, so stay home this weekend and enjoy some pre-Christmas peace.

What a wonderful photo' Louis, I would have loved to have sat there with you....smile
Louis: Thank you Frank. When I am back, I expect to show more.
A terrific shot, Louis! Now we'll have to have Rosemary Vaughan get out her scrapbook from Kruger when we visit her Saturday... Frank must see it - if only through the eyes of others! smile Enjoy your time off - see you later then!
Louis: Thank you Elizabeth. Hope she has a nice scrapbook. See ya.
Elephant heaven, I think, Louis?
Louis: Don't know if it is heaven (maybe like a pub is heaven for an englishman), but there sure was a lot of activity at this venue all the time. Even at night one could hear them going on.
A fabulous image indeed Louis! I wish I was there with you.
Louis: And in the evening we could have had a braai ...

This place really is a magnet for these wonderful beasts Louis
Louis: And so it is, Chris. I believe it may be the result of the drought we are experiencing.

Marvellous shot, featuring heffalumps of all sizes...I believe I could sit in the evenings with you and gaze at this concrete tank, Louis.
Louis: The activity continued all around us in the evening, while we were doing the bbq and sipped a wine for deserts.
I can't imagine seeing this in person. WOW!
Louis: It is quite an experience Mary.
Terrific shot, Louis - and what a vantage point to have!
Louis: Thank you Tom, I did feel privileged.
A hive of activity Louis. What a fantastic sight. Enjoy your break
Louis: Thank you cornishmaid. The break should be an opportunity for lots of pictures.
It's quite a big herd isn't it. Some of them look a bit thin, but then I guess times can be hard for them.
Louis: It is an almost endless parade of herds, passing through.
Great place to hold water Louis, but the little ones would need some help. Enjoy your week.
Louis: Elephants at the drinking place splash a lot, so there is water available all around the dam. Thanks gutteridge.

Looks like a bunch a friends at a pub. Love this image.
