Red-billed oxpeckers

"You heard?"

"What?"

"He is finally out of Israel, now he can pay attention to his roots."

"I am glad, now he will let us out of the Unassigned bin."

Have a nice weekend with as many of your "long time, no see" acquaintances, as possible.

Qu'ils sont beaux avec leurs jolies couleurs. J'aime beaucoup les reflets.
Louis: Ils ont trop de maquillage sur l'oeil. Je pense à eux comme les comédiens.
HA! Well, then. Welcome to SC, you red-billed oxpeckers. smile
Louis: They were waiting very long for an innings, Ginnie.

Wonderful shot, Louis...much too good to languish in "unassigned"! smile
Louis: Thank you Ray. They are very happy for their release smile

Beautiful aren't they. Now all they need is a nice ox to peck..
Louis: I like them, even if the eye make-up is a bit overdone.
My eyes feel like that sometimes Louis.
Louis: Late in the evening after two whiskey's? I know the feeling ...

HURRAY for the unassigned bin, mine came from that too last night.
Fabulous picture and love the conversation they have.
Louis: Thank you Astrid. The Israel papers took very long, so I had to start working on what comes next.
Very endearing looking birds Louis who deserve their place in the limelight.

Number two grandson's first birthday today so Ange is making a cake!
Louis: Hah, what takes your fancy the most - no 2 grandson or Angie's cake? grin One day I will get to remember - no 3 granddaughter had her second birthday last week. No 2 grandson is now 8 months, mouth full of teeth and a crawler. No 2 daughter (child no 4) has given notice, she is getting married at the end of the year and the chap is agreeable smile
Excellent capture Louis!
Enjoy the weekend too.
Louis: Thank you Richard, I did.

They were pleased to see you back, Louis, as will your friends and family
Louis: The dogs were very happy, indeed. They missed our daily stint of 5kms+ looking for cats and hares (at least, that is what they think we are doing).
Aren't they lovely birds. I was really intrigued by the upside down birds in the thumbnail.
Louis: Thank you Mary. Sometimes I like to fool around with that thumbnail tool.
Comical looking birds, Louis, have a good weekend.
Louis: Thank you Fred - yes, like clowns, a bit heavy on the make-up.
What cute little creatures, the one on the right looks like a miniature Penguin.
Louis: I see what you mean, Brian. Quite so.
i liked the banter of the red billed characters, Louis and you leave us with a profound message - how true!
Louis: Thank you Ayush. The other day, as I was out on a walk, I played a little game. Starting with my first work experience, I tried to remember all the people I shared my days with. Sad state of affairs - success less than 50%. I can remember faces, but the names are slipping.

a couple with some distance
Louis: Hmmm, maybe she forgot to put on her deodorant.
do the Red-billed ox peckers actually peck the oxen Louis?
have a nice weekend....petersmile
Louis: You will see them more on buffalo, rhino, impala and other wild animals - sometimes on cattle. They do not peck. They have an interesting way of opening their beaks, so that they are semi-unhinged. They can then work the two parts of beak, like a scissors. You should imagine the barber working a man's hair with scissors. The ox peckers are constantly 'snipping' the host animal's skin or hair, to pick up insects and parasites.
Makes me smile--they are cute...
Louis: They are lovely indeed, Larry
