These are children from the same Basarwa tribe, as the old woman of the previous posting.

Have a golden weekend.

Ils ont l'air contents d'être photographiés.
Louis: Peut-être qu'ils n'obtiennent pas assez d'attention. smile
I love that golden back lighting!
Louis: Thank you Elizabeth

They seem to be looking for their soccer ball, Louis.
Louis: They were first playing some soccer with a 'ball' made of plastic bags, tightly rolled at the core and then covered with more plastic bags, until they end up with something, resembling a soccer ball.
They seem more up to date than the old lady was, Louis.
Louis: They would be, at least they know something about good manners, Frank.
I suppose she's taught these kids a thing or two, then?!
Louis: Well, not their good manners, which they have, Ginnie.

They look friendly. Do they get a decent education Louis?
Louis: There is a good primary school in the village, Chris. Many of the kids passed our camping site in the afternoon, hanging around to see what we are doing, etc. The look that I had in their school books, looked to be what children learn, everywhere.
I like the contrast with modern clothes Louis! Very nice capture.
Louis: They have no other choice, Richard. The parents don't have that much hunting skills, so everything comes from the shops or they are donated.
They must have a hard life in prospect I imagine
Louis: A hard life of their own making, Bill. Many an upliftment person has tried, but it all run onto the rocks of no ambition. Historically, they were hunter gatherers. Since there is enough, no-one tried to have more than the next one. They learned to live with what they have and in small family groups. Hunting and gathering is not possible in modern society, so they are left with their lack of ambition and just their family relations. On a Saturday afternoon the kids 14 years and older (secondary school level) will hang around the village with dark glasses, being drunk. And can they make a nuisance of themselves!

Some of these children are quite clever and should easily qualify for good jobs, but they won't leave the family to go study elsewhere and with no ambition, they don't see the point of why they should.

Give them their ball back!

We are in London over the weekend seeing old friends. Hope you have a good one too.
Louis: One of those at the back, is holding the ball. They saw my camera and big lens, so they are checking out and asking questions.
brilliant shot in this light, Louis. if i had attempted this, it would have turned out rubbish!
Louis: Thank you Ayush. What I do is to shoot in RAW when circumstances are difficult. As long as the subject is in focus, you will be able to make something decent of it.
Just like kids everywhere!
Louis: Very much so. They operate in groups when they are unsure.
this is a wonderful image to start up a golden weekend Louis... i have even captured the sun setting in the Pacific this week... and will have another tonight....petersmile
Louis: Yes, rub it in! And enjoy it. Thank you, peter.
