3x lesser kestrels

The one on the left is a she and a younger male on the right. All three catching the late afternoon sun.

They look small, like the American version, Louis.
Louis: They are smallish - about dove sized, which naturally is smaller than a pigeon, as you will know.
A beautiful shot, Louis! Kestrels are a favorite of mine. The American Kestrel is our smallest falcon.
Louis: We have a dwarf falcon, which is smaller - but these ones are small as they go. Thank you Elizabeth.

Jolie petite brochette, ils sont très beaux.
Louis: Merci, Martine. Ce sont des petits rapaces.

I think they've noticed you Louis but aren't worried by your presence. Pretty birds indeed
Louis: They are still happy, since I am using the long lens.

Three for the price of one - you must have been delighted to get the three in a row, Louis
Louis: I was driving by and saw the setting. Stopped the car and took the shot through the sunroof. Least chance of them flying away ...
Are they waiting for the order to 'about turn' Louis?
Louis: They should have been facing front, eh?

And the all have eyes for you...

... Excellent Louis.
Louis: Thank you blackdog. Yes, they should keep a sharp eye on humans.
The late sun is bathing them beautifully. What a rare capture.
Louis: Thank you, Mary. Late sun always works wonders with pictures smile
How delightful, Louis!
Louis: Thank you Ginnie.
They actually look quite cute Louis.
Louis: They are that, Brian.

You survived the wedding and everything else. I assume you had a wonderful time.
This is a great picture and they all had an eye on you... great light here.
Louis: Thank you Astrid and yes, we did enjoy the wedding.
Delightful picture Louis! All three alert ...I wonder what they had seen
Louis: Thank you Bill. They were probably checking to see that my attentions were above board.
I thought they were kestrels + but
Louis: We have lesser kestrels, kestrels and rock kestrels - these are the lesser variety.
there is a difference in the colour of their plumage Louis... the top half of the first one is all gold... then there is more grey in the heads of the next two the youngest most of all...
three beautiful birds....petersmile
Louis: From left to right - a female, a male and a young male. Some of the differences are typical of the difficulties to identify bird species.
i would have never imagined they were kestrels, Louis. but then, i know next to nothing about birds. fine shot, the light works very well.
Louis: Thank you Ayush. Fifteen years ago, I wasn't so good at identifying birds. Something that grew on me.

Magnificent birds...lovely capture, Louis.
Louis: Thank you Ray. They are lovely.
The light is lovely on their feathers.
Louis: The golden hour is the nature photographer's friend. Thanks Jacquelyn.
