I just love this shot, Louis! Meerkat's are so entertaining!
Louis: Thank you Elizabeth. They are always good for an hour's watching - especially when you manage to catch them unaware.

FABULOUS, Louis. I'm riveted to these creatures whenever I see them.

Superb capture, Louis.

It looks like there is a bit of moisture on the grass?
Louis: Thank you Ray. I was shooting into the western direction, meaning it couldn't be dew. Checking up closely, it seems to be backlight effect on the grass seeds.
Here they try to sell us car insurance
Louis: Watch out then. They are a wide awake bunch ...

A meerkat doing the human imitation thing, very popular in this country due to an advertising campaign that uses them to sell insurance.
Louis: Meerkats are wide awake and could steal your nest egg before you know. So I would suggest you watch those salesmen.
I watched a group of them once, watching a plane go overhead, all their heads moved across the sky in unison Louis.
Louis: Exactly what they do. I watched a group foraging and squabbling over an egg and the next moment a helicopter started up in the distance. Everyone - man, woman and child stood up straight, watching the direction of the sound.
I am waiting for a few more heads to pop up.
Louis: Sometimes, they are alone - only sometimes.
The most entertaining of characters I always feel.
Louis: Thank you Brian. They are always good for an hour's watching - especially when you manage to catch them unaware.

don't you just love these animals. Of course we only see them in the ZOO, but they are so funny. Great capture and great title.
Louis: Thank you Astrid. They are funny, most of the time.
they have such a great instinct to keep a lookout for danger Louis... superb shot....petersmile
Louis: It is difficult (not impossible) to surprise them, peter
i am always amused by meerkats. a wonderful character here, just needs a pair of binoculars now.
Louis: Heh, I can just imagine it with binoculars smile
amazing to see them stand...
Louis: Oh, they do that a lot. A bit of a flat earth view, otherwise.
You caught him watching for danger. Nicely taken too.
Louis: Thank you Jacquelyn. When you are small like that, you must be fast and vigilant.
