I am really enjoying your eclectic travel series, Louis.
Louis: Thank you Ray it should continue for some time.
It does look very Dutch - if I know anything!
Louis: It is very Dutch, Elizabeth

Very Dutch architecture Louis, most agreeable
Louis: So it is, Chris. In our Cape region there are estate mansions with the same style of gable, but in plastered brick/stone in white and fronting a large building. We refer to it as Cape Dutch style.
I especially love the Dutch green, Louis!
Louis: The Dutch also love this green - my wife does smile

This is the place... I have a picture (B&W) me walking her with my family... a yearly outing, I think I was 12...
Love all the green in here, and yes 'Zaans green' is an official colour. (there were 62 paint making mills in this area, too bad the WiKi only had the Dutch version of the story)
Louis: There are still paint factories in Zaandam, but they don't use mill-power anymore.

heel mooi! Zaanse groen!
Louis: Ik ben het met je eens, Philine
Iconic Dutch looking buildings Louis. I always think Dutch when I see examples of this in UKland.
Louis: They are, gutteridge. In our Cape region there are estate mansions with the same style of gable, but in plastered brick/stone in white and fronting a large thatched building. We refer to it as Cape Dutch style. These date from the days of the Dutch Cape Colony. New houses are sometimes built in Cape Dutch style in the rest of SA - but not so often.
I enjoyed reading Astrid's comment.
Louis: I can just imagine little Astrid on these streets smile

So attractive in that dark green, Louis
Louis: Zaans green is almost British racing green.
The greenness is leaking everywhere.
Louis: It was at the end of spring, Mary. There were still some tulips in the fields along the road.
i like the flowing curves on the gables, Louis. unusual to my eyes.
Louis: Purely decorative - no other function, Ayush. I can think it would be unusual for you.
Very stylish houses, Louis.
Louis: A lot of affluent people lived around here and could afford to spend money on looks.
I do find Dutch architecture very appealing
Louis: I do too. Even their modern architecture is good for the eye.
Les formes de ces maisons sont très originales.
Louis: Il y a beaucoup de ces maisons dans la région Zaan.
An interesting treatment, Louid.
Louis: Thank you Tom. I just tried to light up the darker areas, due to the position of the sun.
