People in the Estrela park 1

The Jardim (Park) da Estrela is opposite the basilica. There are two eating establishments with outdoor seating in the park. What I like about the park, is that it is high on locals and low on tourists. There are some school and a college in the area, which gave rise to a lot of youngsters over the midday hour.

Here, two gents are playing a game of checkers, while another guy is enjoying an ice cold beer and the view.

Over the next week or so, I will do a People in the Park series.

...and, that beer looks cold and tasty, Louis.
Louis: "Sagres, is a 100% natural beer, without any additives. Made mainly with malt, lupus and other cereals is characterized by a light bitter taste." Thus reads the blurb and it is true. It tastes even better after a few hours of walking, gawking and at temps just above 30°C.
Very nice, Louis!
Louis: Yes, you should have tasted it, Elizabeth.
I'm sure that was YOUR beer and view, Louis, so happy memories.
Louis: I am sure you are right, Ginnie smile

This is a very laid back and relaxed sort of place Louis
Louis: No hurrying and a few park bench sleepers - very relaxed, indeed.

I can't stand tourists Louis, which is a bit ironic seeing that I am so often one myself.
Louis: High density tourist crowds don't excite me. Pressing, sheep lead by a flag bearer, not understanding the least bit why they are at a place (they have to be told), selfies, tourist buses choking traffic and so on. But being in a relaxed place like this, the few other tourists are self-made and liveable. I think it has something to do with wanting to experience the place you visit, in its most authentic form.
I like this Louis, nice way to pass the time in ones retirement.
Louis: Thank you Brian. I believe in keeping as busy as possible, especially with applying the mind. Which is what they are doing.
I like the cold of the beer being so prominent.
Louis: And it was nice too smile
A favourite occupation of the Portuguese smile
Louis: Yes, seen some more of it. The other favourite occupation to come up soon.

These are the best views!!!!! In my humble opinion of course, as long as I can look over my glass I am fine with anything smile.... nemen we nog een biertje......
Louis: Ja, graag. Zo zien men beter.
But whose beer is it?
