View from Bairo Alto

Bairo Alto is a district on a hill. At the viewpoint/park with the name of Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcãntara, one is offered excellent views over the lower lying areas of the old city of Lisbon.

In this view you are looking across the Baixa district, towards the Tagus river and Barreiro on the far banks of the river. In the left corner of the picture, you just see part of the roof of the Rossio Station building - the main station of the city. The twin tower building is the Sè, which is the city cathedral. Barreiro is just one of the many villages and towns, surrounding Lisbon, that has grown into sleeper cities.

What a view! Well worth a hike to get to this place, Louis.
Louis: Many views, many hikes - I worked hard for my refreshments, Ray.
much to see here, Louis. i like the white helical staircase to the right and the rose window on the Se.
Louis: Definitely a lot to see, Ayush.
Oh that is so lovely! I like your POV and composition!
Louis: Thank you, Elizabeth. It was worth the hike.

Lots of pan tiled roofage to admire Louis. Portugal is a fairly low key country but it is a lovely place.
Louis: Very much worth a visit, with something for everyone, gutteridge.
What a fabulous view, Louis. WOW.
Louis: Thank you Ginnie.

What a great view, and the cathedral is towering the city.
Louis: The cathedral is a big one, yes Philine.
Nice to see a city that is on a human scale and not overrun with tower blocks
Louis: Lisbon has a few commercial blocks, but there is no overrunning.
The greenery is wonderful here for framing what looks like a hot climate.
Louis: It was above 30°C everyday I was there.
The cathedral looks to be very old going by its design.
Louis: Dating from the 12th century, Brian.

That is what I call 'A VIEW'.... This is fabulous and you had good weather to see a far distance...
Thank you for the write-up..
That boat looks serious and I assume they have a large harbour.
Louis: That river is big and there are more than one harbour in it.
Ah, it's a wonderful city - I hope to be back before too long!
Louis: Indeed, it is wonderful. Enjoy the revisit - I will be a little jealous.
