Nave - Mosteiro dos Jerónimos

The church interior. Octagonal columns connected to the ceiling in a way that suggest palm trees - that's what I think. Unfortunately I couldn't use the middle point for a more balanced picture. At that point, there is a statue and a Japanese tourist that seemed not to get enough of standing there on the only space available. Out of view, behind the pillars are the two stained glass windows, that I have added in, on the sides of the main picture.

There are so many tourists visiting the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and one tend to forget that some come for a religious experience, like many of those in the front pews.

You could have sorted that Japanese tourist out with a good ole Rugby tackle, Louis! smile

This is a very impressive interior, and your fine image shows it off well.
Louis: I was afraid of going overboard and besides; my bones are not so young anymore smile Thank you Ray.
good idea to add in the stained glass works, Louis. at least you don't seem to have run into tourists wielding selfie sticks.
Louis: Oh, they were there, but they will very seldom be in my pictures. Thank you Ayush.
What a place! Beautiful! Thank you for including the stained glass!
Louis: Thank YOU Elizabeth.

I like your montage - a very impressive church - and look at the ceiling!
Louis: The ceilings are fantastic, everywhere, Philine.

This looks like an incredible space Louis, full of atmosphere no doubt..
Louis: Quite an atmosphere, Chris. Even with all the people there, one only hears a faint rustling sound.
W O W.
Louis: Je suis d'accord, Ginnie.
This is a stunning building Louis
Louis: I am in total agreement, Bill
Firstly a beautiful building and secondly a great way of showing us those lovely windows. Unfortunately one has to put up with other visitors getting in the way in places like this, it even happens sometimes when I go to the small village churches I show on SC.but I then think that they are as entitled to do what they wish as much as we are and one has to be patient, something I'm not very good at!
Louis: Thank you Brian. I am always of two minds about people - a picture without life (meaning people or animals) can sometimes appear too sterile. On the other hand, they can crowd out what one wants your picture to be about.
this is a magnificent composition Louis... thanks for the stained glass in this collage....petersmile
Louis: Thank you peter, my pleasure.
Nice assemblage of images, Louis - and it certainly is a stunning interior!
Louis: Thanks Tom, worth a visit if your get around to Lisbon again.
I like the way is viewed from above the floor...
Louis: I am on the choir gallery, thanks Larry.

This is something else. What an amazing interior, such height ceiling. And what great stained windows. This must have been very impressive to walk in....
Louis: The place is very impressive, yes. Thank you Astrid. I am glad you had the wind from behind.
