Choir - Mosteiro dos Jerónimos

The choir seating on the gallery in the monastry church. The seating is arranged in the shape of a square U. In the middle at the back is a huge rosette shaped window that lets in a lot of light, making it difficult to make a single shot of the choir seating, which is quite special in my estimate. At the back end of the square U and under the rosette, are more seats and two more figure paintings. 12 paintings means they are the 12 disciples.

My solution to the rosette issue, was to take separate shots of the two long wings of the square U. At least now you can see the carving, seats and the paintings. The carving of Abraham taking Isaac up the mountain, is on the extreme right end (facing away) of the right hand row of seats.

Great image of a stunning artwork, Louis.

[I am loving this stroll through Portugal]
Louis: Thank you Ray, it is always interesting to see how much was spent on the decorations. In this case, it was paid for, by a special tax (not so heavy I understood) on the stuff that is imported from the newly 'discovered' lands.
I like the drama in the paintings.
Louis: The figures all have very dramatic poses, I agree, Mary.
i really like the ten paintings, Louis.
Louis: I agree that they are quite well done, Ayush.
Wow - it does seem like a very special set of paintings! I think you did well to capture these and present them in this way.
Louis: Thank you very much, Elizabeth

This looks ancient Louis with many religious images in that frieze
Louis: More than 400 years old, I believe, Chris.

Louis: Thank you peter - everything still look very good, after all those years.
An elegant solution to a lighting problem...
Louis: Thank you, Larry
There's some beautiful work here Louis, I like the presentation, sometimes the windows get in the way don't they.
Louis: Especially on a sunny day, Brian. Thank you.
Great wood-carving, isn't it?
Louis: Definitely, Tom. It withstood aging quite well.

I love the way you put this together. It is an excellent way to showcase the whole view as your eye would do.
Louis: Thank you Beth. Yes, sometimes it is not easy to show what you see.
