The background in this picture is a photograph I have taken of the floor in the cloisters. Top left is the ceiling and dimensions of the refectory. The walls in the room is tiled (azulejos) right around, to a height of just over 2 metres. Various biblical scenes are depicted, like the one in bottom right where Joseph has been sold by his brothers.
In both pictures you can see rope-like carved stone borders against the wall. This is considered to be typical Manueline style decoration.
With this picture I end the short series about Mosteiro dos Jerónimos.
