The King Louis I bridge (translation of Ponte de Dom Luis I) links the Gaia side of Porto to the Ribeira side. The top level is for trains and pedestrians and the bottom one is for road traffic and with very narrow pedestrian walkways. The bridge, which was completed in 1886, was designed by a student of Gustav Eiffel.
