Firefinch

Spring is about birdlife as well. This is a female Jameson's Firefinch

I like bird photos almost as much as duck photos. This is lovely, much like our purple finch (which is red like that, not purple)
Louis: Whoever had the privelege of naming birds sometimes was a whacko. We have starling that is three quarters metallic amethyst and has a white chest. So it is called the white breasted starling. smile
Thanks for the comment Mary

Tack sharp and nicely composed. Good one!
Louis: Thank you Martin
Cool Shot Mr.L
Louis: It was also cool of the bird to stay still like it did. Thanks ChaCha
Ah, this is very good. Will we be seeing more of your bird photos?
Louis: I am steadily working on my collection. The other types of pictures is where I am learning a lot about photography and the bird shots benefit as well. Some birds will be posted soon. Thanks for the comment Karen.

I think this kind of shot is how I first remember you on SC, Louis. You're the master of these, IMHO.
Louis: Thank you for this comment Ginnie.

I totally agree with GL. I really love the expression on the face. Very nice shot L!
Louis: Thanks for the comment Scarlet
fiery indeed...great capture louis! Im seeing a lot of 200iso shots for birds...i never use it but am fast changing my mind!
Louis: Because the birds are fast I have a setting 'perpared' for certain areas and times. Sometimes I go search for them in the trees, means walking underneath in the shade - middle of the day is 400 and late it goes to 800. At the time of the shot it was in the morning - good light and the bush not thick so I used 200. Thanks for the comment liam

a lovely-life-size- photo! "Im Apfelbaume pfeift der Fink/sein "Pinke pink..."
Louis: Diesem Fink pfeift keine pinke-pink, etwa wie tswee-tswee.

Now you are testing my german smile Thanks for the comment Philine.

Nicely composed. Bird a tad bit out of focus, could have used a little more in the DOF department IMHO. But still lovely shoy! smile
Louis: Thanks for the comment mista skee

I just love it, the out of focus branches, the content expression on the bird's face...sleepy as he is perhaps. Good one, Louis!
Louis: It was early on a cool morning - she is puffed up in the sun. Thank you Huibri
Now that I have tried my 500 lens I se how difficult it is...I struggle getting things in focus...you have done a good job here... you inspires me to go out and practice more smile
Louis: Try single point focus or go manual. It remains difficult to shoot out of hand, practice normally helps a lot. Thanks for the comment Aksel.
she seems to be a content little bird...love her colour..nice sharpness here...
Louis: Thank you PhotoSam. She is small indeed, about 10cm top to tail.
So well done ! Bravissimo my friend !!
