This is very impressive, Louis, both tree and picture.
Louis: Thank Frank - got some inspiration from AZ.
Baobab's are amazing trees aren't they? You've found an old one here!
Louis: This one is on record as the southernmost baobab in Africa. Glad you like them, Elizabeth.

gobsmacked
Louis: Thank you Ray
Is that one tree Louis, it's girth looks massive?
Louis: It is one tree, gutteridge. There is one that is the most massive and in the good old days when things were wrecked, no questions asked, a pub was carved? out of the inside of the tree. http://travel.spotcoolstuff.com/unusual-bar/treehouse/big-baobab-pub There are a number of interior pictures on that page.
THAT'S a poem, Louis!
Louis: Thank you Ginnie. That is appreciated.

That looks like a magic tree Louis
Louis: Some people call it and upside-down tree, as the spread of branches reminds more of a root system.
Excellent capture of my favourite tree Louis!
Louis: You may even have a picture of this one, Richard. It is the southernmost baobab in Africa and situated in the Kruger Park.

What a fine old tree - any idea of how old it might be, or how long they live, Louis?
Louis: People bandy all kinds of numbers around, but more realistic would be between 1,000 and 2,000 years, Lisl. This one http://travel.spotcoolstuff.com/unusual-bar/treehouse/big-baobab-pub is carbon dated to be well over 1 700 years old. I wouldn-t know the age of the tree in my picture, but it should be between 500 and 1,000 years.
What a treasure to see.
Louis: ... or to have in your garden. I know such lucky people, Mary.
Strange looking trees aren't they, so large in the trunk.
Louis: Some people call it an upside-down tree, as the spread of branches reminds more of a root system, Brian.
A magnificent sight. I read on dear old Wiki that one had a carbon dated age of over 1200 years!
Louis: This one http://travel.spotcoolstuff.com/unusual-bar/treehouse/big-baobab-pub is carbon dated to be well over 1 700 years old. Enormous.
