Round Church in Convent of Christ, Tomar

Interior of the round church (also referred to as charola or rotunda) in the Convento de Christo at Tomar.

The lefthand picture shows the entrance into the round church from the Convent Chamber and in the righthand picture I took an upward picture just after stepping through the gate.

Oh this is so gorgeous - very busy... but very pretty!
Louis: This was like walking into some nobleman's treasury, Elizabeth.

Oh my! Jaw-dropping time...
Louis: Something like a rich woman's jewellery box, I thought. But very interesting and worth spending time.
Oh, yes, Louis. My kind of place to visit, definitely!
Louis: You should, you should, Ginnie.

Absolutely every available surface covered, Louis
Louis: A lot of work, no doubt, Lisl. Those were the days when there were a lot of art in being an artisan.

This is magnificent if not manic Louis.
Louis: The Knights were rich and didn't spend it on themselves.
The years have taken their toll but it is still magnificent
Louis: Yes, I hope someone can fix it properly, Bill.

That is so overwhelming, that must have been something to visit this church.
Excellent pictures, so much to see, Louis.
Louis: Something very special, thank you Astrid.
Isn't that such a magnificent building.
Louis: Quite breathtaking, Brian.
I love the blue angels and surrounds.
Louis: I found it interesting that they used the blue in the 'angel' panels up there, Mary.
they both do a good job of leading the eye upward...
Louis: Makes one wonder if that was the intent.
Louis: Worth another visit smile
