Parque Natural do Alvão - Lamas de Ôlo

Lamas de Ôlo is another small village in the Alvão mountain park. Reason 1 for the picture is to show the stone grainery. Reason 2 is the striking contrasts between old and modern.

It is an astonishing building, Louis.
Louis: That it is, but I am left wondering how it works.
It's hard to beat old European stone architecture, Louis!
Louis: I don't think one can tire from travelling Europe, Ginnie.

Those grain stores are ubiquitous in northern Iberia.
Louis: In Portugal, I came across them in the really old towns in the north and east of the country. Especially the east, which is grain country. But this was the first one I saw.
The old certainly looks old.. This is really something to see!
Louis: Old stuff, like buildings etc, are mostly well looked after in Portugal.
I wondered what it was until I read your text!
Louis: When I first saw one of these, I had to ask around.
the grainery had been built a long time ago Louis... it sure stands out from the modern buildings....petersmile
Louis: It does, eh? And in the background the glass and other containers.

That looks quite old, Louis. I love your poin of view here.
Louis: Thank you Astrid - the grainery is very old.
Interesting shot and treatment, Louis.
Louis: Some tone-mapping to emphasise the grainery. Thanks Tom.
One can not say that there are no stones in these parts, a landscape with an unusual appearance
Louis: Thank you claudio. Lots and lots of stones.
Wonderful old buildings!
Louis: Thank you Larry
