Good shot how many hands is Bella
Louis: In jumper's technology she would be a pony. I am not sure exactly, but would guess about 14.1 hands. Thanks vintage.
I like how soft the shot is, despite the glow of the light.
Louis: Thanks Jewlya - I guess the softness is mostly due to the backlight
Nice composition - it really works well in the B&W.
Louis: Thank you martie - I believe backlight and mono goes well together.
Your vantage point, Louis, makes me think these horses are small or that you're standing "above" them? You've presented them in a dreamy light. Almost a figment of one's imagination.
Louis: The ground does slant towards them, but very little. Bella is not a big horse, only around 14 hands, which means if I stretch my arm straightforward it will go onto her back. Thanks for the comment Ginnie.
Another beautiful backlight shot Louis. I like the soft tones here!
Louis: Thanks Richard - it seems that soft and backlight tend to go together.
Good tone of this photo, good light use too
Louis: Thank you Chantal
really dreamy atmosphere and tone to this Louis. the harmony of the pair in unison grazing really adds a dynamic to the image. beautiful shot. mal
Louis: Thanks mal, I have been trying a number of backlight pictures lately and it seems to come out OK
Love the way the sun is on the back of the horses, great atmosphere, great composition.
Louis: Thank you Astrid, with backlight the sun can provide some framing of its own.
That's a lovely scene Louis. How old is the foal?
It seems to me that foal's necks must be quite short in relation to their legs.
Louis: Thanks Ellie. The foal was born just before Christmas, so - about 6 months then. When smaller the necks are even shorter and with the long legs you get the expression of 'coltish movement' for teenagers at a certain stage.
Although the foal seems to grow fast in relation to the mother it is not strong yet - even the bones are too soft for riding etc.
Nice companion to yesterday's beauty!
Louis: Thanks ray, they were also taken very shortly after each other.
ze lopen in de pas en doen hetzelfde- dit noemd men harmonie en verwandschap!
Louis: Ook een prachtgezicht als ze samen op loop jagen. Bedankt voor de commentaar Philine.
Very different from yesterdays pic - I like this one better even if it is a little bit to sweet for my liking
Louis: Thanks Aksel - as horses go these are not so big. When they get difficult you realise again that they are mighty strong animals.
Potent light ... creating a sort of skeletal phenomina in the horses. richard
Louis: T^hanks Richard - it does seem to accentuate their outlines.
I like the softness of the photo combined with the B&W thereby creating a contrast from the light to to darker areas. Nice one, Louis!
Louis: Thank you Andrč
Louis love the lighting and these two horses are so relaxed in your persence
Louis: Thanks Tracy, horses can be quite skittish but will relax most of the times when the humans around them do so too.
magical shot Louis, superb light, what a capture that is
Louis: Thanks tim, that is an honour.
The softness in this one makes the scene look almost unreal,
very dreamy.
Louis: Thanks for the comment Magnus
Lovely shot, B&W make it cool.
Louis: Thank you again Arash.
cant believe i nearly missed this one...top quality work...
Louis: Thank you PhotoSam - you must have been busy with all the travelling
