Close experience
Some sharing today. On 31 March it was my wife's birthday and the children decided to treat her to an elephant experience. It includes the opportunity to scrub the elephant, feed it some pellets, attend a jungle class with and about the elephants. The high point of the class is to receive a kiss from the elephant. Afterwards a short ride. The whole close-up experience lasts about 3 hours. Here the scrubbing event is completed (scrub in handlers hand) and she feeds the elephant some pellets into its upturned trunk. The handler carries the pellets in the bag covering his backside. See how the elephant's eyes are closed as it is savouring the experience.

Before I saw/read your text, Louis, I said to myself, "I bet that's Louis' wife!" Voila!
What a nice birthday gift! The kind one always remembers. I was gonna ask you if you also close your eyes when you savor "the experience," but decided that was a bit too personal.
Louis: Oh well Ginnie you have been in suspence ever since the desert picture way back
As to your question - come scratch my back and see if I close my eyes
What a great gift Louis. She must have had a blast.
Louis: Thank you scarlet, yes she did.
I like the sharpness and contrast in this photo. well done.
Louis: Thank you Arash. I did take a quick look at some of your pictures. Great stuff and good quality.
What a fantastic animal, Louis. I enjoyed seeing them in the Kruger Park last October.
Louis: Tch - now you say you were here and you didn't even stop by for a beer
What a present,I bet it was a great experiance for her.Bye the way great capture
Louis: Thanks vintage. She was so much impressed by the experience.
What an original gift Louis. I am sure your wife enjoyed the experience.
Very nice shot. Your wife and the elephant seem very happy!
Louis: Thanks Richard and yes they were quite happy.
I think he has a smile there and I'd say your wife would carry a smile around from this experience for a while.
One of my best friend's birthday is on 31 March. He was 54.
Louis: Thanks Mary - your friend is born on the same day and date as my wife
What a beautiful gift and an experience never forgotten
LOL at Ginnie she is a card!!
Louis: Thanks Tracy. I think we all missed her when she was away.
What a beautiful image! I love elephants, so it's a great treat to see this one. And what a fantastic, thoughtful gift! Congratulations to your wife!
Louis: Thank you martie - I will convey the message.
A very nice scene and a very original "lief" present! The elephant is greeting: "Gefeliciteerd, mevrouw..!"
This is some great birthday gift, one you all, your wife the most, will remember with a big smile, you made this into a very good picture.
LOL at Ginnie....die is ook niet verlegen om zoiets te vragen, maar Louis....ze heeft me wel nieuwsgierig gemaakt.....
Louis: Thank you Astrid. I have answered Ginnie that she can come and scratch my back and then see if I will close my eyes
warm colours here.
Louis: Thank you Chantal
Such softees Louis ...
Now Louis am I talking about the elephant or your wife? ;-) ;-) richard
Louis: Nah, I wouldn't say that about the elephant - it is bigger than I am
That is a very cool birthday gift - bet that would be difficult to arrange here in Oslo
Louis: Thanks Aksel. It is easy to arrange in Oslo - just buy a ticket and contact me. I will pick you up at the airport and drive you to the place
nice shot Louis, up close and personal for sure, think i would feel a wee bit nervous next to such a mammoth creature
Louis: On the day there was a little boy of 4 who also did some scrubbing and feeding. Hakuna mathatha. Thanks tim.
Never heard of these, a nice idea for a gift.
Louis: When you are over here, plan a morning for it. It is worth your time. The afternoon we can have a beer
Exellent birthday gift
I have my birthday coming up soon Louis
Louis: Just buy the flying ticket and I will take you there
Man, I'd love to do something like that. Elephants are very intriguing animals. Maybe they have something like this at the zoo here.
Louis: Or one plane ticket away!
What a wonderful treat, absolutely wonderful.
Louis: I wil give you the directions when you come visit SA
Touching picture, Louis! I especially loved the last sentence of your caption! LOL! You have such a great sense of humor
