I had this one lying around in my archives, but found inspiration to blog it from a feather that Martin (Point) has blogged last week. I converted it to mono, dabbled a little and sized it for the new template.
The feather is a plumule (secondary feather) of a guinea fowl that was lying around.

I like your version of the feather shot! There is a lot going on in this shot, but it is well organized and cleanly processed.
Louis: Thanks for the comment and thanks for the inspiration Martin
A well composed and unique shot. I like the processing.
Louis: Thank you Red Pen
interesting shot!
Louis: Thank you ChaCha
Brilliant, shot - considering the number of things that could potential be distraction from the focal point of this shot (i.e. the feather), the result is fantastic. Great shot, louis.
Louis: Thank you Niki, without PS this would have been a bland picture and why it was lying around in my archives.
Hi Louis...Wonderful combination of textures and patterns here.
Louis: Thanks for the comment Kay
A very graphic shot. Your treatment emphasizes the unusual pattern and texture of the feather. (Well, unusual to me, anyway.
Louis: These fowls run around allover the landscape, even in the inhabited areas and cities. The feathers are full of natural contrast. Thanks for the comment Karen.
Very well done,
Louis: Thank you Coleen
The feather is so unusual, Louis, that I first thought there was a feather (top center) AND a creature of some sort underneath it (with the polka dots!). WOW. That is some feather that I'm not used to either.
Louis: These fowls run around allover the landscape, even in the inhabited areas and cities. The feathers are full of natural contrast. Thanks for the comment Ginnie
With so much detail in this photograph, it would have been easy to lose the central point of interest. You have done well to focus the viewer attention on the beautiful feather. Well done. (:o)
Louis: Thanks for this comment Rosalyn - I used a light vignette and lighting to get the effect
Guinea fowl are pretty and interesting birds...we had a few when I was a lad in Australia. I guess they had a long flight over the Indian Ocean to get to us. [grin]
Your excellent snap of the feather reminded me just how pretty they were, Louis.
Louis: On the other hand, many a SA household has cockatiels, so I guess the cocka's and guineas pass each other on flight between the countries - like ships in the night.
Thanks for the comment Ray.
Unusual and interesting shot Louis
Louis: Thanks for the comment Tracy
nice work louis. both you and martin are making me think about digging up a feather shot out of the archives. not sure that mine is a crisp though
Louis: Bake it in oil and you have a crisp
The pattern/details on the feather looks fantastic in this B/W shot.
Louis: Thank you Magnus.
A crisp and clear shot
Louis: Thanks for the comment Dotun
Louis, an impressive image! The treatment that you have done enriches it and the new template makes the photo impressive!

conversion make sit looks pretty intense, lot seems to be going on...

Dear Louis, how exquisite. Devine and elegant in its presentation. Very well done! Regards, Elize :o)
Louis: Thanks for this comment Elize
I like it, would love to see all the not feather parts be blured as the background...don't know if it will work, just a suggestion
Louis: Technicall it will probably work Aksel, but may be seen as unrealistic, because everything in the picture are on the same level - ground 0 - a varying field depth would be unrealistic
Stunning detail.. love the textures
Louis: Thanks for the comment Gale
Poetic ! A bit dark but very nice !
Louis: Thanks for the comment Zebigleb. Sorry but I like this one as dark as it is
