Have a great weekend!

A surreal effect. Very bold and interesting.
Louis: Thanks Red Pen. Yellow is quite bold.
LOL, the processing certainly helps with identifying the obstacles!
Louis: Thanks Martin - just want to make sure they are seen
Love the look/feel of this one, Louis. What type of editing or processing did you use to create this effect?
Louis: Thanks Janelle. What I have done was to select the drums and cut and copy them to a layer. The background layer is now without the drums and the copied layer has only the drums. Convert the background to B&W, add grain to taste.
The other way would be to create a background copy, change it to B&W and then use the eraser on the parts where I want to restore colour - the erasing thing can be tricky.
i like the perspective and the in your face yellow of the barrels. mal
Louis: Thanks for the comment mal - true about the yellow.
Very creative processing here. Fabulous.
Louis: Thanks for the comment Mary
In-your-face yellow is right, Louis. Is this for the horses or the humans!
Have a great weekend yourself. See you later from over the pond.
Louis: They are for horses with humans on them Ginnie. Safe hopping
Playing with layers? That grain is fantastic. Is that the natural grain at iso400?
Louis: Thanks liam. The grain is what I added to the grey layer.
Ty, u2 Louis.
Louis: Ja bedankt voor't bezoekje. De groeten tuis.
Quite noisy at ISO400 Louis. I like the perspective and the selective colours
Louis: Thanks Richard - the grain was added to the greay layer during processing.
I never cease to be amazed at the obstacle we toss in front of ourselves, when, if we step two feet to either side, we'd find a clear path.
Louis: Thanks Kathryn This week I have left my own comments off the blog - the idea grew from a comment I received 2 weeks ago. In the process the viewer has free reign to interpret what I was trying to achieve or just enjoy the picture. My joy is when someone hits it spot-on. This is the second time you have done so during this week. Thanks again.
Love the selective colour Louis and the grain adds to the effect. Have a nice weekend.
Louis: Thanks Aussie - glad you like it.
This is just some really nice processing here, I love the result very much, nice job here, this kind of stuf still is 'my obstacle' but once I will find out
Louis: Thanks Astrid. If you are interested you can come have a look, I explained to Janelle what I did.
"Obstacle? I see no obstacle!" said the blind man.
Dramatic and wonderful processing here, Louis.
Louis: Thanks ray - tell the blind man that the yellow ones are the obstacle
Interesting shot - the effect of the grain and bright, large series of objects makes it a bit surreal.
Louis: Thanks Jewlya - the way the last drum contrasts with the B&W has an air of surreality.
Isn't their some film parlance about putting it in the can. Nicely unorthodox theme ... but that's what makes it worth commenting on. I guess the noise and flat feel effect of the barrels was deliberate ... I'm happy with it ...The yellow works well for me. richard
Louis: You are right about the film parlance - putting it in the can is the end of the shoot (I think). Otherwise how about 'Roll out the barrel ...'
I like the grains and BW here...and I wonder how this would look with a littel less saturation on the coloured parts...
Louis: Thanks Aksel - I did go through a great number of alternatives with the drums including low saturation. It solves what I see as an issue with the hindmost drum - but then the others don't show as good. In my opinion you win some and loose some.
Great effect Louis, have a good weekend.
Louis: Thanks, I am working on it. My 17 year old is having a party with 30+ similar aged teenagers allover the house. Including 4 belgian exchange students.
The angle of view makes these drums look awfully close together. Eye catching picture Louis, and good pp too
Louis: Thanks Ellie - but if you stand aside there are great gaps between the drums
Interesting composition
Louis: Thanks for the comment Tomás
Love the processing..and the perspective. Have a great weekend and great riding( if you are)
Louis: Thanks gale. This weekend was a 30km exercise equivalent. The coming weekend is the first competitive ride for the new year. For us it will be 70km. 'Equivalent' includes arena work (see tomorrow's pic) and road work. Sometimes hills are included - all to get horse and rider fit.
I like much the textures that you have obtained and the selective decoloración. The general tone of the image, works for my!
Louis: Thanks for this comment Josč-Angel.
