Old an new
I thought I will continue on yesterday's old&new theme. A newly restored house and a fairly new car with their neighbours. Taken in Pècs, Hungary.

What a great contrast, Louis! Even the cars are different in age
Louis: Thanks Kay - it is these contrasts that drew me to take the picture.
Nice contrast there between old and new. I love the colors. Nice and warm.
Louis: Thanks for the comment Laura
well captured Louis.. it really tells the story. I do love the wall with the plaster that has fallen off. It has so much charecter.
Louis: Thanks Gale, I believe that Hungary is a country with endless photo opportunities - so much character allround - nature, buildings, people and vehicles.
A good find and composition- yes, these situations or contrast can always be seen in the East-European countries including the "nieuwe gedeeltes"/voormalige "DDR"!
Louis: Thanks Philine. Do you think it is worthwhile to take a trip to see the old east-germany? Some time ago I was giving serious thought to the idea - but it never bore fruit.
Reminds me of being in the former GDR this past weekend. Things were let go to the point of falling down, but rather than repair them, new buildings were constructed. Odd huh?
Louis: Oh well, both ways is an approach to the issue of ageing buildings. Personally I prefer what they are doing most of the time in Hungary where a lot restoration is done. Even in the small country towns. It helps to maintain examples of old architecture.
On the other hand one should leave space for new ideas etc.
Love that old wall Louis, nice capture.
Louis: Thanks for the comment Aussie. I have some more of these kind of walls in my files
Works for me, Louis. I think they are reasonably complementary, and your image is neat.
Louis: Thanks for that ray. Yes I believe they can co-exist and the Lada still shines.
nicely spotted
Louis: Thank you Chantal
This is so well spotted, I love the color of the new house, look at those two cars, this is awsome, but the old house has much more character...
Louis: Even if the old one has character, I would prefer to live in the new one
Nicely spotted Louis.
Louis: Thank you Bernie - you will probably only read this late tomorrow after recovering
Well spotted and a great capture!!!
Louis: Thank you Michelle
Good comparison. In addition, the old one has serious problems of stability. It seems that it is on the verge of falling!
Louis: Thanks Josè-Angel. I am not sure of the leaning gable. It could be the lens. But I am not sure.
Great contrast Louis, well spotted.
Louis: Thank you Tracy. Have you seen that Ann found one of the missing front-end loaders?
Very nice contrast old house/new house, old car/ new car. I like the warm tones
Louis: Thank you Richard. Most of the hungarians use warm colours for their restored houses.
I love the juxtaposition of old vs. new like this, Louis. The character of that brick wall is unsurpassible. But I agree with you that living in the new would probably be better than the old.
Louis: Thank you Ginnie - I have some more such brick walls. So much of hungary I haven't blogged yet. Sigh.
watch out if you happens to park here!. Nice picture Louis.
Louis: You are right Gishan. That one wall looks ready to go
great contrast Louis, looks like it will be new and new before too long,
Louis: I hope you are right tim. A lot of restoration going on, but I guess progress matches money.
excellent contrast...
Louis: Thank you Photosam.
Great contrast between the buildings. I bet it cost a large amount of money and time, well captured
Louis: I also think there is a lot of buying of these old houses to restore from elsewhere in europe, e.g. germany, holland etc. Hungary would still be on the affordable side of life for other european countries, weather is good, food is good, a lot of water around for sporting activities and not to mention spa/hydro baths. Thanks for the comment vintage.
What am I supposed to take pictures of.....I think I would try something like this if I was there
Louis: You can trust me Aksel. The little corners, walls and things that you like to take pictures of are plenty in Hungary.
Wow, this old building is going to fall down, it's not a good idea to let your car there
Louis: Thanks for the concern Imagenerf, when I do city travelling I am on foot most of the time
