Oh, lovely diamonds in the water!! Nice shot!.
Louis: Thanks Mary - the diamond effect was my main goal.
Nice and warm shot, Louis. I can feel the sun. And it feels good
Louis: Thank you kay and yes the sun was still quite warm then
I think I could like this place! Like the way the sunlight's reflection on the water and in the lens come together
Louis: Thank you dirk, maybe you should come and visit again next year
the sparkle in the water is very nice
Louis: Thank you Chantal. I have been experimenting a lot with taking pictures against the sun.
Ponds like this were my favourite place when I was young. There were always yabbies [fresh water crayfish] in the water, and so there was fun in trying to catch them with a small piece of bacon on a short length of string.
Really like this image, Louis.
Louis: They are in this water as well. There is also trout and that keeps me quite busy when I am not busy with the camera. Thanks ray.
Love the pond and the sparkle, but I would have been tempted to do a tighter crop. I find the lens reflection a bit distracting.
Louis: You are right Aussie - the lense flare is strong is in this picture.
All is light Louis.
Louis: You are light about that chad
Nice one, I imagine that the sun on the lens actually makes this photo what it is??
Louis: Thank you Dunico. Yes, since my main object was to capture the sparkles.
Sparkling pond very nice
Louis: Thank you vintage
The sparkles in the pond are so nice, they make the picture alive and the sun in the lens is not disturbing here.
Louis: Thanks Astrid - I have seen in many a comment in the past that some like lens flare and some don't. For me flare is part of shooting into the sun.
Jewels on the pond, lovely Louis
Louis: Thanks Tracy - want some?
OMG! Are you collecting diamonds in ponds in RSA now? Fine shot Louis.
Louis: Thanks Richard - have you forgotten how they are laying around to be picked up
Nice pic, but glare is a bit too glary.
Louis: Thanks for the comment - one day I will learn to take alternatively exposed pictures.
Looks like a wonderful place to soak up the sun. I like the sparkles on the water.
Louis: Thank you Red Pen - we are now going into the last part of autumn. Soon the sun will have less impact than the cold winds.
deLIGHTful water-hole louis. richard
Louis: Thanks Richard, I like the LIGHThearted tone of your comment
I promised I'd swing by your way again soon, so before I get waylaid again, I'll do it now.
That's a very brave shot directly into the sun and I love what's happened to the sparkles in the water. The flare, of course, is wholly unavoidable here. I can ignore that as I try to imagine the countryside, presumably around where you live. Just look at all that space. I'd really like a view of the vista there, Louis. It looks as if the plain is sweeping up into a mountain range from this tantalising glimpse.
Louis: Thanks for the comment Colin. I have been experimenting with shooting against the sun lately - in this case I wanted to catch the sparkles. About the vista - you are right there is a high mountain range at the back. I will find one and send it to you. Tomorrow is a valley view and then a view of the mountain to the left of the pond on Thursday. I have been hiking allover the place to take pictures
That's a very pretty place!
Louis: Thanks Martin - a bit different from the Grand Canyon.
Soon, very soon, the sun will shine on us too
Louis: You are right - soon, very soon.
think the lens flare actually works well with the scene which is unusual, nice one Louis
Louis: Thanks for this comment tim
Nice shot, like the sparkles in the water. Where's the shot taken?
Louis: Thank you Peter. The place is called Verlorenkloof, between Machadodorp and Lydenburg (Mashishing).
Lovely sparkles!
Louis: Thanks Jewlya - I see you are busy, so we may see some new pictures from you.
i think that have spoken to you before about shooting into the sun, I love doing it as well, it is a challenge to get the settings right and every now and then you get this special flare effect that can make an image great. good work .mal
Louis: I have done a lot of 'against the sun' pictures lately. Just something that intrigues me, like blurries and night shots. Maybe it is something about creating effects out of camera - and then a little processing to round the effort off. Thanks for the comment mal.
On golden pond...
Love the glare and jewels in the water.
Louis: Golden pond - this pond actually has the name of the Flycatcher - but it looks a little golden in this way. There is trout in the pond and a few difficult trees around it - hence the name. Thanks Kathryn.
I get this nice autumn feeling looking at this - autumn in the mountains....
Louis: It is autumn and this pond is in the mountains. Your feelings is 100% Aksel.
I like very much the sun flare in this picture, it gives a special atmosphere !
Louis: Thanks for the comment Zebigleb - you have done a dissapearance trick for a while
