Taking a break
I have been fooling around with background layers. Some just textured and others have themes, like this one with the autumn theme. I thought this background would fit the purpose best. I am taking a break and will be back sometime at the end of next week.

done well with your 1st try, quite effective and look forward to seeing more
Louis: Thank you ric - I will do some more at times
It's odd to see tails on sheep. We cut them off here.
Louis: Many sheep lose their tails to the ring (method) here as well. Hygiene reasons mostly. Some like these keep it and I wouldn't know why, except that some believe the tail to be a delicacy. Since this pasture is at a cheese factory I don't believe that would be the reason
Very interesting and cool technique, Louis.
Have a nice break; enjoy!
Louis: Thank you on both counts marybeth
Are you saying we have a few days to contemplate this, Louis?
Louis: You are right about that, Ginnie. Contemplate the peace and quiet that I will hopefully be enjoying. I have tried a number of backgrounds, but this one I thought is working best. In a certain sense I feel the background is a bit overpowering and distracts too much from the original picture, but then ... I think it fits in with a break theme
Interesting Louis, I thought it was some exotic African animals from the thumbnail.
Louis: Thanks Aussie - you don't know how right you are. The Dorper sheep was bred in SA around 1930.
Enjoy your break Louis
Louis: Thank you vintage
Oh thank you so much for this, Louis. I quite like sheep you know.
Louis: Oh, I did have your bleached one in mind when I took this picture. Thanks chad
Quite a strange shot Louis. Good try. Have a great break!
Louis: Thank you all around Richard
Oh black-face-sheep (from Scotland?) are my most beloved animals because of their patient and easily satisfied character! I think you have given them a paradiselike ambiance, they have merit that en ze zouden nu samen met jou genieten van dit mooie landschap en de rust en de vrede na het hard werken!
Louis: The common black-faced sheep in SA is the Dorper. It is a own breed that did make use of the Persian black-face and a Dorset ram way back around 1930. The Dorper is probably our foremost meat sheep. Bedankt Philine, jij had helemaal gelijk - 't gaat voor mij om de rust en vrede gedurende de onderbreking.
Different, and yes quite strange and I guess I'm just a blind old yank but do take a break bruv, I have and I'll talk at ya when you return.
J
Louis: Thanks johnny - till then
Very interesting outcome ! very cool !
Louis: Thanks Ferdi - keep well.
Enjoy oyur break and come back with more creative shots like this Louis
Louis: Good idea Tracy, there are cows and wild stuff where I am going ...
Cool!
Fancy autumn overlay, plus a candid of the rare SA black faced woolly lion. Works a treat for me, Louis.
Louis: Thanks ray, your knowledge of the bushveld astounds me
liking the experimentation...
Louis: Thanks PhotoSam
Interesting, what software are you using?
Louis: Thanks Dunico - Photoshop Elements 5.0 for this one.
have a great break, Louis. We all need them from time to time. I hope you have time to stop and smell the flowers as well as graze in the sun.
Louis: That is exactly what I plan to do, thank you Kathryn
Geniet en fotografeer met mate ;-) Welk werelddeel is aan de beurt?
Groeten daar.
Louis: Mpumalanga provincie, op de weg tussen Machadodorp en Lydenburg. Fotgraferen doe ik niet met mate
Have a good break! I'll try to save a blue shot until after your return
Louis: Thanks Martin, it is ever so thoughtful of you. It is a background layer made semi-transparent with opacity change.
I just love it and maybe you can show us some more, enjoy your break, have a nice time and see you soon.
Louis: When I get the time after the break, I will do so - delivery time currently unknown
I like the result of your layer experiment.
The effect with the yellow straw´s make the picture look old. Have a great break Louis
Louis: That yellow straw is why I liked this one the most. Thanks for the comment Magnus
Have a nice break, they are sometimes wonderful
Your pic is really strange...
Louis: I thought the picture is agricultural
I find this very pleasing on the eye, Louis. I love this kind of experimentation - kind of liberating, isn`t it. Have a wonderful break. (:o)
Louis: Thanks Rosalyn. In a sense it is liberating
Interesting experiment I must say...
Louis: Thank you minelmio

Interesting approuch Louis. Enjoy the break!!
Louis: Thanks Andrè - I hope we will enjoy it.
Very different, Louis - I like it too, Enjoy your break
Louis: Thanks for the comment Coleen, and we did enjoy the break.
i had heard tales
Louis: Over here we don't call them lamb sausage machines - just 'ewes'. Blue plaster ducks and red dwarfs of toadstools? Hah, I was just looking for something colourful to stick up while away. Ducks and dwarfs - could be better
I really like the creativity of this composition. Enjoy the break.
Louis: Thank you Red Pen and we did enjoy the break.

Louis: Thanks for this comment john
Have a great break Louis! The background layers you choose really suits the scene I feel.
Louis: Thank you Scarlet - I think it fits the time of the year as well - we have a beautiful autumn
Wonderful work here : Congratulations !!
Louis: Thanks again for this comment Zebigleb
Well, I am taking a break from the usual routine too. It's good for the soul! Are these sheep used for wool at all, or just their milk (to make cheese?) and meat?
Louis: Thanks Karen. These sheep are mainly for the mutton.
Funny composition ...
Louis: Merci m'selle Ann
Nice effect, very interesting technique. Good job.
This already is called CREATIVITY, Louis friend! Bravo by your experiment. I believe that we are growing every day!
