Taking the milk home
These two boys picked up milk for the family from the dairy - remember the bovine stampede of Monday. As these two are walking away into the future, it reminded me - have a great weekend.

It looks as iof they have some journey ahead of them, Louis.
Louis: Don't we all have a journey ahead of us? That reminds me chad, I must go take a look if you are still pulling a full stop with the lamb.
Louis, in this one picture lies a whole story, this is their way of live, they walk miles and miles, we are so used to cars of bikes or whatever, yes they walk away into the future....Hope you have een gezellig weekend met de familie en tot maandag, hartelijke groeten van Astrid.
Louis: What are you writing here girl? Of course they have to walk, they don't have drivers licenses yet
I love this shot Louis, makes you appreciate the way we live and the hardships that third world countries suffer.
Louis: Thanks for the comment Tracy. We who live in the third world don't suffer so much - provided we don't live in a country like Zimbabwe or have to travel to the UK and afford your prices in our ZAR. For the rest it is quite an adventure
Beautiful capture Louis. I like that you mentioned the walk into the future! It makes me meditating...
Louis: Thank you Richard, yes we can think about the curves in life ...
Ik vind het perspektief en motief (curved lane, the two coloured boys taking the milk home) erg mooi, jammer dat we de gezichten van de jongens en hun melkkannen niet nader kunnen bekijken. Een hard werk, dag op dag! The street has a milky touch. I'm not sure if the boys can rest on weekend?
Louis: These two boys live close-by (less than 2 km's). They are doing a chore for mom; in the week they attend school. Because what lies behind the curve is an unknown, I made the comment about the future with the picture. From my side I prefer the perspective where they are walking in the direction of the curve - and if you look closely you will see the older boy holding a bottle of milk
Personally I think that they are priveleged to grow up in the countryside. In this specific valley the local people are all involved in ongoing developments and schools and other basic amenities are available. They live in serviced brick houses (not large - but opposed to mud dwellings) - and good mobile reception has been brought to the valley. Not bad at all, access to modern stuff while growing up in the country-side. One of the modern behaviour patterns that I find funny is that a lot of people go to the city, with the dream to become rich. In the end they spend shovels full of money to get out in the countryside to unwind or retire. One of our folk poets wrote a long poem spelling out the process, although his angle was that you work good health into the ground so that you can have enough money to pay the medical staff that will soothe you through resulting pains and aches in the last years. What you don't spend that way, you leave to the children to kick-start their big chase. Now see what you have done - got me all philosophical on a Friday
Oh, many thanks for your very informative and philosophical comment! Now you have deserved a good weekend!
Nicely framed Louis, I hope they dont get too thirsty on the way
Louis: Thanks Nigel, I guess their mother will send them back.
great shot, impressive when you know what they are doing
Louis: Thank you Chantal. How people react to a picture when I leave no description is also very interesting.
Nice picture to start the weekend. Love the curve of the road and that you can't see what lies ahead.
Very much like life, and how many would continue the journey if they knew what lies ahead.
Louis: Thanks for the comment Aussie. What lies ahead, do we want to know? Probably not
I like this shot because it could be almost anywhere in the world and you can sit and make up stories about the boys all day long which is not a bad thing when you consider just how much imagination you'll need just to appreciate the image.
There's nothing wrong with being philosophical on a Friday as long as you don't let it affect the rest of your weekend ... unless of course that was the whole reason for being philosophical in the first place ! J
Louis: Thanks johnny, a few home truths there.
An excellent reminder for us all... I'm one of the decreasing numbers in Britain who still has doorstep milk deliveries ... Keeps the employment figures in good state. richard
Louis: Heh, heh - lucky you Richard. Thanks for the comment.
This is a very nicely composed shot, Louis!
Louis: Thank you Martin
Like i wish u L.
Louis: Bedankt en een prettige weekend met je fam.
I love the frame and the tones !!! Nice title too ...
Louis: Thank you Ann, the picture is also about memories for me.
Sauntering like children do - Good weekend to you too, Lou.
Louis: Thank you Mary - that is exactly the way it was
Very fine composition, Louis.
Love what you are are doing lately with colour saturation. Looks like you don't have a drought problem. I am guessing the boys have a short-cut, just a little way ahead.
Louis: Thanks ray - we had a great rain season in the country, although this specific area very seldom experiences drought.
Very nice - really like the bend of the road, and the green colours of the trees...and yes, they also are the future....
Louis: Thank you Aksel - love that additional interpretation.
This looks like a peaceful walk down the road. I like the way you captured them...it tells a story.
Louis: Thank you kay, rural and peaceful.
I really like the composition in this one Louis.
The dark green heavy forrest hanging over the road and the curve of the road. And the two boys balance the picture perfect
Louis: Thank you Magnus - it is the opportunity of this composition that drew me to take the picture.
really lovely mood to this Louis. mal
Louis: Thank you mal. I would have liked to have a better original to work from. Right at the end of the break I discovered that 'portrait' became attached to 'standard' in the user profiles of the camera. How in the world that happened I will never understand, but it could only have been my ownself. Great weekend.
Simple and nice one, I like it !!
Louis: Thanks Imaginerf - sometimes you just see a good picture that is going to happen
