Mmm, ripples ... are you trying to tell us something Louis?
Louis: Nothing special Ellie. Blogging water pictures was inspired by Aksel about 2 to 3 weeks ago
Beautiful, with the ripples, the watergreen golden 'glans' - like a painting from Turner! wonderful! A photo like a writing-pad which we can fill with some thoughts and feelings!
Louis: Thanks Philine, the writing pad is a good description.
The potent chemistry that ripples ingender ... only to dissipate weakly. They could be interpreted as being rather nebulous.
richard
Louis: In this case they are nebulous. The reflections in the water interfere with the clarity of the ripples. Thanks for the thoughtful comment Richard.
Superb, Louis!
Even better than yesterday's excellent pic.
Louis: Thank you ray.
Wonderful abstract shot Louis. I love the tones!
Louis: Thank you Richard, water has so many faces.
Why is the water green?
Louis: Why is the clear sky blue? You ask a question that is difficult for me to answer. OK I read up in wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_of_water . It explains how the colour of pure water is very light blue, how if compounded the blue gets darker, how white light reflects of suspended particles and deepens the blue. Odd colours like green, brown and even red can occur due to particles suspended in the water. In the case of green it would be algae. Reflection would also have an impact.
This water body is a smallish man-made catchment dam against the foothills of a mountain-side. Uphill is thick grass with wetland qualities, which will mean clean water flowing through. There is plant life in the water though, so I guess that would be a source of green and algae should be present too. The possibility of green reflection from the grass covered mountainside is not excluded. Thanks for the comment Mary, you had me read up on a subject that I didn't a lot about and therefor learnt something.
This looks a bit swampy in colour Louis.
Nice windy ripples
Louis: It is actually very clear water Tracy. I think the colour to the lens may be due to reflection of vegetation and there would be algae in the water.
Louis, I love the riples in this water, love the colors, are you taking swimming lessons...or do you have een radiografisch bestuurbare boot gekocht....
Louis: I can swim a couple of years now Astrid, so it must be the boat
another serene photo Louis.
Louis: Thank you chad
I have to stop checking your blog at work. This is so calming that it could make my afternoon nap unacceptably long!
Louis: You must be one of those people who can sleep at work - I have always admired them for the abillity to take a half hour nap. Thanks for the comment Martin.
