Provinces border

The Free State town of Bethulie is to the left out of the picture and in the distance. The Hennie Steyn Bridge crosses the Orange River from the Free State to the Eastern Cape province at this point. At 1.2km I am told it is the longest bridge in my country and carries road and rail traffic. Later, I took some pictures of a very beautiful sunset from that bridge.

It's always good to see the landscapes of your country, Louis, so different from ours
Louis: Lots of differences - I agree, Lisl.

What a fabulous view you show us here, Louis. That bridge and the yellow grass and the far view. You live in a wonderful country!
Louis: Thank you, Astrid. Not all is wonderful in SA, but we do have beautiful landscapes.
A fine looking viaduct Louis
Louis: I have to agree, Bill.

The bridge looks very comfortably sitting in the landscape.
Louis: Nestled in and basking in the late afternoon sun.
The golden grasses make my day, Louis. I see some termite mounds... A very beautiful landscape scene.
Louis: Thank you, Care. Those termite mounds are all over the country. In the lowveld bushveld, they can become quite high.
This is a very good landscape Louis, it's got everything, a great sky, gorgeous foreground and that very impressive bridge in front of the mountains, one couldn't ask for much more in such an image.
Louis: The one thing is that I experience the appearance of the eastern clapper lark. Roughly at the same time I took this picture. They are the size of a sparrow and the male fly at a height of between 50 and 100 metres. He glides like a hawk and then claps his wings exactly 3 times before continuing the glide. Standing there, you here prrrt, silence, prrrt, silence, prrrt, etc.
The bridge gives a sense of scale and yet I still can't grasp it, especially when you say 1.2km! A terrific landscape, Louis smile
Louis: Thank you, Martin. It could be the effect of wide open country, when you are not used to it (my guess).
