A bird on the wire|
|
This African Green Pigeon is one of a bunch that sunned themselves on the telephone cables accross the road from my house during the past winter.
When I saw the azzure blue colour of the sky in this picture, I checked and found that the other pigeon shots taken in a different direction was less blue. It was only when I took shots due south that blue became so intense. No further explanation, but it must have something to do with the time of day and the angle away from the sun.
In Afrikaans this pigeon is a Papegaaiduif, which translates to Parrot Pigeon. It even walks on the wire in the way that you would expect from a parrot - a half crawl kind of way.
Today I will leave early for the last endurance meet for the year. I will catch up with comments and views later in the weekend.
