Another dune

Picture taken during a recent visit to Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert.

Don't be as lonely as the camel thorn tree in the picture, during this weekend.

jesus christ, Louis. You pulled this one off, my boy. Oh my... Breathtakingly beautiful, and sooooo masterfully built (well, could've shaved off a bit from teh bottom smile).
First class, for sure.
Louis: No need to address me through a third party. I am not that high up in universal echelons smile Thank you vc - your assessment of the picture leaves me breathless.

Oh.. what a beauty, Louis! I'm staring at it for quite a while already. Breathtaking indeed.
Louis: Thank you iris. Breathtaking indeed, and to be able to stand there and touch them. Surprisingly soft they are.

A very powerful image Louis: but it all looks a bit inhospitable out there
Louis: If you land in that area without enough beer and sunscreen, then it will become very inhospitable.

Even more spectacular - the tree gives an idea of the immense scale. On my own all week-end so thorn sandwich for me ;o(
Louis: Thank you blackdog. Loneliness is passable, as long as it is not every weekend.

Really great image, Louis. When it first opened. I thought it was someone's nose close to the camera. Excellent!

Gorgeous! Extraordinary shapes and forms and shadows. WOW!
Just how big is that dune, anyway?
Louis: The crest of the dune is between 250 and 300 meters from the base.

Ah I knew it. There is nothing like the Namib and its huge dunes.
What a wonderful photo.
Louis: Thanks again DEBB. Sossus is a photographer's playground.
Gosh-golly-gumdrops! Also brilliant!
Louis: Some real beauty in the neighbour's country. Thanks again Harry.
Wow - must have been great taking picture at this place - just love that line between the sun and shadow part in the sand.
Awesome shot and composition! You really feel the enormity of the dune.
Louis: Thank you John. At 300 meters it is quite enormous.
