photoblog image Highway to the North

Highway to the North

This week I will post a short series about Pretoria where I live.

This picture is of the N1 hi-way that runs through the city. To the right and against the hills are some office buildings in a suburb. Pretoria is referred to as a garden city as there are many trees in the city, to the extent that a picture of a suburb shows only rooftops and the higher buidlings.

driving and taking picture, not very safe my friend ;-) one day I will go to south Africa to check that out ! so our blues won great right! mine by 3 yours by 4 ;-)
Louis: I took this picture on a lazy saturday afternoon and have actually stopped on an onramp after checking for no traffic behind me. From the picture it looks as if i am on the hi-way, but not really - i have cropped the original somewhat to create the image - that is why the non-standard size.
Whatever - allez les blues. What i think to be a great week-end.
I didn't realize that you guys drive on the left. Looks like a nice place with wild clouds. I wish I could get more of those here. Thanks for sharing this shot. It is always interesting to see where people live.
Louis: Yup with the advent of the motorcar we have been a british colony - i think all of them still drive left. Clouds we have plenty in a rainy summer like this one.
Ha -- looks rather familiar. Apparently Joburg/Pretoria is the greenest city on the planet! And we know a thing about wild clouds I think... (We must also live in one of the most active electrical storm places right?)
Louis: A number of years ago Scheepersnek just outside Vryheid in KZN was listed in the Guiness as the place with the most lightning strikes on the planet - at the time i lived within viewing distance of the place - awesome strikes - pity that i never tried to take a picture.
nice wide view
Louis: Thanks Chantal

Oh, goodie gumdrops, Louis. I like getting to see where people live. Your decription reminds me a bit of Atlanta since we have so much green in the city. It's really spread out.

And you know me and skies like that!
Louis: Thanks for the comment Ginnie - i took a clouds picture (that i will post sometime) later on this same day.
really nice frame
Louis: Thank you sguardiamo

I like the composition and format. And the clouds are fantastic. Very good! I'm looking forward to see more of your hometown.
Louis: Thank you julischka
Sorry for beeing boring, I just have to say; I agreee with julischka. One thing - I love the detail with the car in the bottom right corner - driving out of the pic - But I guess you know what I like now and that last comment may not be a surpsise... smile
Louis: Nothing boring about a nice comment - thanks Aksel
Nice street view Louis, I have the impression to visit smile smile
Louis: When you come this way, there is a good chance that you will travel this same hi-way. But it is only so calm on a late saturday afternoon until sometimes on sunday morning.
